Tips on How To Get A Good Night Sleep

If you are like most people, who find that you wake up in the morning still feeling tired, then chances are you are not getting enough recuperative sleep. There are several steps you can perform that may help you get a good night sleep. The steps following require minor lifestyle and environment changes, such as, preparing for sleep, establishing a sleep schedule, and creating a sleep efficient bedroom.

            The best way to prepare for sleep is to unwind mentally. It is suggested that you conduct a low-key activity a half hour before you fall asleep. Examples of these activities are reading or listening to music. Once, you relax your mind your body will relax also or vice versa. Some ways that you can relax your body are meditation or taking a warm bath. Before you go to bed it is best to put any thoughts about the next day down on paper. You also may want to eat a high-card snack. A snack that is high in carbohydrates will relax your body.

            The next tip on how to get a good night sleep pertains to creating and adhering to a sleep schedule. It is important that you go to bed and get up at the same time everyday, including weekends.

            Finally, make sure your environment is conducive to sleep. Turn off all lights and block out all noise. If you cannot block out all light and noise, then you may want to try a sleep mask and ear plugs. Make sure the temperature is comfortable for you. If the temperature is to hot or to cold, then adjust it to where you are most comfortable. Try to keep a clock out of view. If your partner’s sleep patterns bother you, address them and either get a bigger bed, ear plugs, or consult a doctor.

            If after you try these tips and you are still having a difficult time sleeping, then you may need to consult with your physician.
